A mouse took a stroll through the deep dark wood…and has come to tell their story! Play, sing and make a craft activity with little brown mouse in this fun, interactive telling of everyone’s favourite tale about the mysterious woodland creature with purple prickles. Silly old mouse, don’t they know? There IS such a thing as a Gruffalo!

Tickets £3 per person. This event is suitable for children aged 3+ and their families. Buy a day ticket or annual pass to enjoy the rest of Seven Stories.

Did you know that The Gruffalo came about because Julia Donaldson wanted to write a story about a tiger but she soon realised she couldn’t find many good words to rhyme with tiger.  She kept going with the story and came up with the line ‘Silly old Fox, doesn’t he know; There’s no such thing as a ________’ and the word Gruffalo came into her mind. See the first illustrations, notebooks and artwork from The Gruffalo in our new exhibition Where Stories Come From which opens on Saturday 4 April 2020.
