'In Our Hands' Author Event with Lucy Farfort
'In Our Hands' Author Event with Lucy Farfort
Saturday 17th September, 10.30am - 12pm
In this one and a half hour workshop Lucy will introduce 'In Our Hands', her debut picture book.
After a reading and talk, Lucy will invite you to re-create yourself as a character in a book. Through a drawing session, you'll design a character based on you which will be followed by writing a short story, about how you - the main character - sparks change to improve something in the world. This could be around solving a problem that might affect your neighbourhood - such as litter - or helping to tackle a larger global issue such as pollution or climate change.
Through this empowering workshop, children are encouraged to view themselves as tools for change, and are shown that you don’t need to be a world leader, wealthy or even an adult in order to make a positive change. Anyone can do it!
This workshop is suitable for all ages, but the themes and activities are best suited to children aged 5 – 9 years and their parents. Parental supervision required.
