Beatrix Potter and Beatrix Heelis are one woman divided in two by a little rabbit, two fiancés, and miles of Lakeland countryside. This talk given by visiting Leverhulme professor Kristin Bluemel unites the two stories of Beatrix to claim her work as children's author, animal artist, farmer, and land preservationist for modern British womanhood and rural modernity. Presented in partnership with Newcastle University.
