Accessibility at Seven Stories


Seven Stories is a listed building and we are delighted to celebrate its unique features.  However, this does mean we are limited to one lift for our visitors. Please give priority to those with buggys and access requirements. You might have to wait during busy periods.


Accessible toilets (excl. WC access) are on Levels 2 and 7. baby change facilities are available on Levels 2 and 7. Please put soiled nappies in the bins provided.

Wheelchair Access

Our building features many accommodations for wheelchair users including a fully furnished accessibility oriented bathroom on Level 1 and a full suite of emergency equipment. We have made every effort to make each level of our building is fully wheelchair accessible however customers visiting exhibitions on Levels 4 & 5 may wish to contact our team for more information at:

Staying Safe

Please supervise your children at all times. Report any lost children, first aid incidents or any other concerns to a member of staff so that we can help you.

Bikes and Scooters

A bike rack is available outside Seven Stories for visitors use. We kindly ask that children leave scooters at home or in the car. Scooters are not permitted in Seven Stories, and will be left at the owners risk.

Photography and Filming

Please make memories and take photos to remember your visit.  We just ask that you help us to protect the precious artwork on show by turning off your flash and not taking close up shots of the work on display. We also ask that you do not film our story times so that everyone (including our story catchers) can enjoy the experience.  Specific photo points are available. Share your photographs with us using #sevenstories.

Food and Drink

Food and drink is not permitted anywhere in or near our exhibition galleries. For the safety of others, hot drinks are not to be carried around our building.

Looking after our planet

Please put waste in the bins provided and encourage children to use the recycling bins. Together we can all make a difference to preserve our planet.

Consider Others

During story times and events please keep mobile phones on silent. We also ask that you refrain from filming our story times.  During performances and events please supervise your children at all times.

Guide Dogs

Seven Stories welcomes Guide Dogs into the building but no other animals are permitted.

Relaxed Environment

Seven Stories aims to provide the best possible experience for all of our visitors. If you or your child requires additional support during your visit, please do not hesitate to ask a member of staff who would be happy to discuss how best to assist.

Ear Defenders

Ear defenders are available for hire at Reception on Level 3 subject to availability. Quieter spaces can be found around the building if this is required at any point throughout your visit. Please speak to a member of staff for further advice.

Card Payments

Seven Stories only accepts Visa or MasterCard.


A refund of admission/event or activity fee will only be offered: 1) when an activity promised at reception and in publicity cited throughout the building on the day in question has not been delivered or replaced with a like for like activity and 2) the building is closed for a period of 30 minutes or more due to an unforeseen circumstance.

Seven Stories Collection

The Seven Stories Collection is not stored at the visitor centre, but is housed on a separate site, and is only open to the public by appointment. For more information, or to arrange an appointment, please contact the collection team.
