Seven Stories welcomes Angelina Ballerina for a StoryLab Gallery exhibition, but keep your eyes peeled – there are dinosaurs on the prowl.
Keep your eyes and ears alert when you visit Seven Stories this Summer – there are dinosaurs on the prowl! The Creation Station has been taken over by a HUGE T-Rex – are you brave enough to step inside his jaws? This HUGE art installation, created by illustrator Paul Stickland, is in situ all summer to celebrate 20 years of his best-selling book Dinosaur ROAR. Take part in fantastic storytimes filled with all your favourite scaly stories and create your own ferocious 3.D T.Rex mask to take home.
Families can pick up a Scaly Trail from reception and help find Squeak – a pesky dinosaur who has escaped all over Seven Stories and is trying to munch through the artwork. Come dressed as your favourite dinosaur or Dino-hunter for a chance to win prizes all summer - it might help you sneak up on Squeak!
Stomp and Roar as part of Seven Stories’ popular Under4s event programme. Join in a super sensory session of music and rhyme at Baby Dino Stomp and Roar on Friday 25 July, 1, 8, 15, 22 and 29 August at 2pm. Once the under4s have perfected their growls and sharpened their claws – join in with a Dino StoryParty on Monday 4, Wednesday 6 August and Monday 18, Wednesday 20 August 10.30am & 2pm packed with roaring stories, songs to stomp to and plenty
Tip toe past the dinosaurs to find Angelina Ballerina mid plié in the Seven Stories’ StoryLab Gallery. Twists and Tails: the Story of Angelina Ballerina celebrates the exquisite original material behind author Katharine Holabird and illustrator Helen Craig’s best–selling series. This new exhibition showcases previously unseen manuscripts and illustrations from Seven Stories’ newly acquired Angelina Ballerina Collection.
Prima Ballerinas are invited to follow in Angelina’s footsteps and perfect their first position in front of a full length mirror and discover the magical world of Angelina Ballerina. Dress up as the famous balletic mouse and join in with interactive activities based on this classic family series.
Get your biggest bear hugs ready as Hugless Douglas is in search of just the right hug. Bring all the family along to join award-winning author and illustrator David Melling on Sunday 10 August at 4pm as he does some live drawing; find out how he created the loveable bear Hugless Douglas and get your favourite books signed.
Every fancied yourself as a film maker? Well whip out your Director’s deckchair and dust off your dressing room gold star, Seven Stories and Tyneside Cinema would like to invite you to two cracking courses this summer. Book now for a five day filmmaking workshop and get expert tips on how to write, shoot and edit your own movie as part of Pop – Up Film School: Adaptation Boot Camp. This is a brilliant and inspiring introduction to the world of film making.
Seven Stories’ show stopping exhibition - Moving Stories: Children’s Books from Page to Screen – is a must see this summer with opportunity to dress up as characters from classic adaptations including Peter Pan and Alice in Wonderland, children and grown-ups alike are invited to immerse themselves in the original illustrations, manuscripts and artefacts from phenomenally successful book-to film-adaptations such as Mr Stink by David Walliams, Fantastic Mr Fox by Roald Dahl, Shrek by William Stieg and Charlie and Lola by Lauren Child. Original artwork and manuscripts for the children’s classic Alice in Wonderland form part of this ground-breaking exhibition and don’t forget to look up – you might see your favourite version of the story flying above their heads.
Visitors are guaranteed to find a touch of magic in the Enchanted Forest where they are invited to watch a Mixed-Up Fairytale unfold before their very eyes. The White Rabbit and Little Red Riding Hood need your help to create the Best Story Ever and assisted by an array of unusual props and a sprinkling of magic glitter, they have a performance that will blow your socks off.
