Seven Stories wins a Gold Inclusive Tourism Award!

Seven Stories is delighted to have been awarded the Inclusive Tourism Award at the annual North East England Tourism Awards!

The ceremony, held on Thursday 16th November, celebrated the very best of the North East’s prestigious tourism businesses, recognising excellence in a variety of categories, including Small and Large Visitor Attraction of the Year, Hotel of the Year and even Dog Friendly Business of the Year!

The award was accepted by our dedicated Access Champion, Beth Coverdale, a long standing member of our Learning team whose experience and expertise is invaluable to Seven Stories. Beth leads a dedicated team of welcoming and confident staff in offering personalised support to families relating to their unique situations and needs, before, during and after their visit with us.

In 2012, Seven Stories’ began a partnership with St Oswald’s Hospice to create accessible experiences for children with life limiting illness and their families. This ongoing project kick started a cross organisation initiative to make Seven Stories as accessible and inclusive as possible to all public visitors, including an extensive building refurbishment in 2015.

Seven Stories is now widely recognised as a sector leader in our approach to multi-sensory exhibition design and best practice in accessible gallery interpretation.

We are extremely proud to have received this award and we look forward to creating many more accessible and memorable experiences for our visitors!
