Green Week soars into action
Saturday 9th – Sunday 17th September 2017
This week Seven Stories joins our friends at other Newcastle Gateshead Cultural Venues in celebrating the first Green Week, an event raising awareness of environmental issues, focussing on five main areas: paper, water, food waste, energy and travel.
Visitors to Seven Stories can enjoy a week of Sustainable Stories, where our team of Story Catchers will tell our favourite tales all about taking care of our world, the environment and the people around us. Stories include Dinosaurs and All That Rubbish, Tin Forest, Where’s the Elephant?, Tidy and many more!
Stay tuned to Twitter and Instagram (@7stories) on Wednesday 13th September as we explore Food Waste and look at how our wonderful Café staff prepare our menu, which is as environmentally friendly as it is delicious! Keep an eye out for a very special behind-the-scenes video as we take a look at everything we do as an organisation to reduce our impact on the environment.
There is so much to do across the region during Green week. Sage Gateshead soars into action on Monday (11th) as they recycle old paper and newspapers for a mass paper air plane throw in in’s main concert hall. Dance City hosts a ‘staff clear out and recycle day’ and a clothes swap event for staff and visitors on Friday (15th) afternoon. Tyne and Wear Archives & Museums are inviting families to design and build and build something using recycled materials to help make the world a better place. Find everything that is going on throughout the region during Green Week here.
All of NGCV want to hear your ideas about how local venues and visitors can help the environment and be greener. Submit your ideas here and enter the prize draw, with 10 prizes to be won for the most brilliant, innovative and green ideas, including show tickets, shopping vouchers and family passes. The deadline to submit ideas is midnight on Sunday 17th September.
