Be Part of our Story
There are many ways to support Seven Stories.
In 2015, we were thrilled to host a wonderful event celebrating the 25th Wedding Anniversary of our friends Cuth and Caroline Earl.
Cuth and Caroline are longstanding supporters of Seven Stories and they invited their friends and family to a party in our Attic.
Not only did they support Seven Stories by booking their party with us, bringing new people in to our building to see what we do and providing much-needed income, but they generously suggested that their guests make a donation to Seven Stories in lieu of giving gifts. The Earls decided that they would like the donations to be used to purchase something for our collection.
Our Collection includes things like rough artwork, draft manuscripts, dummy books, correspondence, editors’ notes, proofs, and anything else that helps us explore how books are created. Today, the Seven Stories Collection includes material by over 250 authors and illustrators including Enid Blyton, Philip Pullman, Robert Westall, Judith Kerr, Edward Ardizzone and Kaye Webb. We collect archives dating from around 1930, right up to the present day (we even have material for books that haven't been published yet!).
The Earls have always admired the work of illustrator Jane Ray and
chose an illustration from Berlie Doherty’s Fairy Tales depicting the moment in Sleeping Beauty when the Prince asks her to marry him. They both loved the artwork and thought it a fitting way to commemorate their anniversary.
Without the kind support of people like the Earls, the work we do to share the joy of reading would simply not be possible.
We were thrilled to welcome such a lovely group of people for such a fabulous reason and we wish Cuth and Caroline continued happiness.
“We had a great time, and everybody, with whom we have spoken or from whom we have received emails really loved it as much as we did.” Cuth & Caroline Earl
