Seven Stories - The National Centre for Children’s Books is proud to announce that current Children’s Laureate and this year’s prestigious Kate Greenaway Medal winner Chris Riddell, will make an exclusive appearance at Seven Stories to host a three-day Artist Residency Saturday 23 - Monday 25 July.
Seven Stories staff and visitors are getting in the doodling spirit with the launch of an Instagram campaign Seven Stories Sketch inspired by Chris’ famous Doodle-a-Day.
Whether or not you are a skilled sketcher, swirler or a stick man drawer families are invited to get doodling and share their sketches on Instagram #sevenstories #7Ssketch for a chance to win a copy of Chris Riddell’s latest book The Hunting of the Snark by Lewis Carroll.
Chris Riddell is renowned for his doodling and provides a Doodle-a-Day on his own Instagram feed, recording everyday events and happenings.
Hannah Lambert, Seven Stories Marketing and Digital Coordinator says,
“Chris has an impressive array of doodles that capture every part of his day. Everyone loves to doodle whether you’re an experienced illustrator, scribbler, occasional doodler or more of a swirls and circler. It's a fun and accessible way to be creative for everyone. I am looking forward to finding out more about everyone’s day to day lives from the scribbles, sketches and doodles they produce.”
Families will be able to meet Chris Riddell – multi-award-winning illustrator and acclaimed ninth Children’s Laureate when he settles into life at Seven Stories for his three-day Artist Residency this July. There will be a series of events for a range of ages across the weekend with plenty of opportunity to watch the master of illustration at work as he scribbles, doodles, sketches and draws.
