Suitable for KS2 & KS3
Drawing Words, curated by Children's Laureate Lauren Child, brings together some of the most exciting children's book illustration to come out of the UK in recent years.  The ten illustrators showcased have been selected for their distinctly personal and unique work, to offer a snapshot of the vibrant work being produced today.

Your group will take part in an interactive tour of the exhibition exploring a range of illustration techniques and learn about the different illustrators and their creative process.

Workshops

Key Stage 2
These workshops, based on Laura Carlin's book A World of Your Own, ask - if you were creating a world of your own, what would it look like? Children will be encouraged to use their imaginations to create their ideal world where anything is possible and no rules apply!

KS2 - Drama: Advertise your perfect world!
Inspired by adverts seen on TV pupils will decide what makes a good advert before creating their very own aimed at encouraging people to visit their perfect world. Acting as a character or presenter they will then share their advert with the group.

KS2 - Drawing: Map your perfect world!
The mixed media and collage techniques Laura Carlin explores in her book will be used as inspiration for children to create a detailed map of their perfect world using their imaginations to transform everyday objects and buildings into something sensational!

Key Stage 3
These workshops, based on Laura Carlin's book A World of Your Own, ask - if you were creating a world of your own, what would it be like? Using this book as a starting point, young people will reflect on the world as it is and draw on their social and political awareness to imagine a different reality and identify the changes they would make to the world.

KS3 - Drama: Perfect World Ambassadors
As part of this workshop, young people will present their perfect world to their peers as part of a Perfect World Summit using a mix of drama techniques.
