A Closer Look at Elmer: New perspectives on favourite titles

This special training package is tailored for EYFS, KS1 and KS2 teachers who want to bring imagination and motivation into their reading classrooms. Explore the Seven Stories approach to creative storytelling & extend your story-sharing practice with our skilled team, before leaving armed with a collection of suggested books and versatile activities to try out with any book back at school. Find out more about David McKee (author and illustrator behind Elmer, Mr Benn and many more), hear about plans for our upcoming exhibition and Wild in Art's city-wide Elmer trail, and pick up suggestions for interpreting the sometimes complex themes of Elmer and David’s other books. Then take away an exclusive pack of recommended reads, designed to enrich your curriculum learning and spark your children’s engagement back at school.

Participants will take away:

  • A bespoke David McKee book pack for the relevant Key Stage.
  • Confidence & skills to maximise on the creative potential of any book.
  • Ideas & activities for themed work in the classroom.
  • The Seven Stories 5-point plan for bringing books to life, and ideas for applying each point back at school.
  • A re-usable story sharing planning framework.
