Make a Miniature Book with Axel Scheffler

Join us for a very special school event with author and illustrator Axel Scheffler hosted in partnership with the British Library

Wednesday 19th January 2022, 11am
Recommended age: Y3, Y4, Y5 & Y6
Registration is FREE and open to schools anywhere

Join Gruffalo illustrator Axel Scheffler for a live virtual broadcast from his London studio. Axel will showcase his beloved collection of miniature books, including a tiny handmade version of The Snail and the Whale and a book he made for his daughter's dolls' house. He'll also reveal some wonderful miniature treasures from the British Library, which are currently on display in Newcastle City Library. Last but not least, he'll provide a step-by-step miniature book demonstration so you can make your very own tiny volume. And you may even witness a newly-drawn Gruffalo!

Children will need paper, pencils, rubber bands and scissors to take part in the make-a-long section.

About the event:
This event will be live streamed through a private YouTube link and last approximately 1h, including creating a miniature book and a Q&A at the end.

Our digital author events are planned in a way that allows your pupils to join both from school and from home either live or on catch-up. We want these events to be fully accessible to your school during these unpredictable times and will support you in integrating them into your school day, whether or not your pupils are able to attend school in person.
