Cressida Cowell is currently the Waterstones Children’s Laureate (2019 – 2021).   She is the author and illustrator of bestselling The Wizards of Once and How to Train Your Dragon series.

This exhibition will develop new and exciting ways of involving children and young people in the development and running of an exhibition.  We aim to transform our temporary gallery into an immersive, Cressida Cowell inspired forest environment.

As always with Seven Stories exhibitions, original artwork and manuscripts will be displayed to explore Cressida's creative process as inspiration for visitors to become creative themselves. We will also encourage visitors to reflect on their own identity and self-belief through getting to know the personalities of the characters in Cressida’s books.

We will be working in conjunction with a commissioned set designer and young people.  Seven Stories will take inspiration from the environments found within Cressida’s Dragons and Wizards series to create an immersive visitor experience. The gallery may be transformed into a forest, created with help from children and young people. Workshops may give rise to the creation of characters from the series for visitors to encounter. Interactive interventions will be devised with the commissioned set designer and children to allow visitors to add to the installation and make a personal response.
