Our very own Blythe Day has written a guest blog for us with details all about her upcoming #Swimfor7Stories in aid of our Access programme:

Hello! I’m Blythe and on 8th June I’m going to #Swimfor7Stories in the Great North Swim to support the amazing Seven Stories Access programme.

Seven Stories is a charity and relies on donations from people just like you and me in order to be able to continue their vital work to get children and families reading.

So in support of their amazing work, I’m going to be jumping in at the deep-end (!) with a 1 mile swim (!!) in Lake Windermere (!!!!!!) this June, and I need your support to get me through it!

In keeping with the children’s books theme, my very talented colleague Rachel will be making me a Rainbow Fish inspired swim top to wear over my wetsuit, bringing a bit of Seven Stories sparkle and magic to what’s sure to be a pretty cold and wet experience!

Specifically the money I’m raising will go towards Seven Stories’ Access programme, which provides creative sessions, relaxed story times and performances. The amazing Story Catchers use loads of sensory resources and accessible props to spark imagination and give a magical inclusive story experience for children with a range of sensory and additional needs.

The access programme is really close to my heart and Seven Stories does incredible work to welcome families to take part in activities that delight, inspire and excite all children, however they experience the world.

“My daughter absolutely loves the early autism morning. She is usually mute when it’s busy but she is coming out of her shell every session. She joins in really well with the story time and the staff are all so lovely with us. Thank you for holding the sessions, it really makes a difference to us as a family.” – Seven Stories Visitor

Any donation will be really appreciated and will help to bring the magic of books to children with additional needs.

Thank you!
