Thanks to our supporters, the Share a Story campaign raised enough money to ensure every child who took part in the events on Friday 10th December with author Tom Percival received their very own copy of his book The Invisible.

Sarah Cotton, Creative Producer at Seven Stories, said: "Tom's wonderful book inspired us at Seven Stories to bring families in Byker together to celebrate people who make a difference in our community. A huge thank you to everyone who donated to the Share a Story Appeal, which allowed us to give out a free copy to all the families who attended the event, and also schoolchildren at Byker Primary School where Tom led a session earlier in the day."

Emma Leggott, Byker Partnership Manager adds, “It is easy to assume that all children want these days is a screen or tech – but we know the gift of a book is a very special one and something the young still love. Sharing a story with others is timeless."

Tom, author of beloved books such as Ruby's Worry, Perfectly Norman and Little Legends, tweeted on the day to say: "I’ve had a great day! So nice to meet some of the families in Byker! It was nice to spend a day with @7Stories and visit all the places that you work with!"

Donations can still be made online and by texting the word INVISIBLE to 70470 - all money raised will go towards further community work with families and school pupils in Byker and Walker. Copies of The Invisible are also available to purchase in our specialist children's bookshop in Ouseburn.
