World Book Day changes lives through a love of books and shared reading and each year children of all ages come together to share the joy of reading for pleasure.

This year, World Book Day takes place on Thursday 4th March 2021 and one of the ways in which Seven Stories will celebrate is through the sharing of our favourite stories.  As well as sharing a few of our own recommended reads, we're also asking you to tell us all about your best books.

Which title always makes you smile?  Which authors and illustrators do you love the most?  And why is your chosen book so very special?  We want to hear all about it!

To take part we are asking you to record a short video to send into us.

Here are the details:

  • Start your video by introducing yourself
  • Share the book title, author/illustrator name
  • Finally, starting with the line “I love this book because…”, tell us why you love this book the most in one sentence. ?
  • Videos must not be longer than 30 seconds and need to be in MP4 file format
  • Videos must be sent to us by Friday 26th February 2021, 12noon.

You can share your video with us by emailing it to or you can share it with us via social media using the hashtag #Ilovethisbookbecause

On Thursday 4th March at 3.30pm our team of Story Catchers will present a World Book Day celebration over on our YouTube channel - streaming plenty of fantastic Seven Stories fun into your lounges, kitchens and dining rooms wherever you are!

Our Story Catchers Laurence, Charlie, Charlotte, Melanie and Jackie will be showing you how to make a 'zine', storytelling using found objects (something for everyone to try at home!) and Colin the Crocodile will be dropping in too, for a special interview with Veruca Salt of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory Fame! Plus we'll be showing a few of your videos as part of the programme.  It'll be a jam-packed programme of super storytelling entertainment, bringing the very best of Seven Stories Story Catcher fun to you all at home.

Don't forget to save the date!

Need some inspiration for your videos?  Hear from our Story Catchers below as they tell YOU a bit about the books they love!  And keep an eye on our social media channels over the coming weeks as we share a few of our special stories with you too.
