Looking for a fun day out in Newcastle with children under 5? This summer we’ve got lots planned so come and join in the fun!

Every Monday at 11am and 2pm, join our Story Catchers for Rosie’s Walk, a special Super Story Explorers event inspired by the classic picture book by Pat Hutchins, follow our Story Catcher on a sensory adventure across the farmyard, round the pond and over the haystack in a bid to outwit Mr Fox. With games and activities to get you moving, this is a perfect summer activity for under 5s and their grown-ups.

If you’d like an event with cake included (for the kids, of course…), book a place at the Winnie & Wilbur Seaside Afternoon Tea Summer Special event. Our Story Catchers will be on hand to entertain with games, activities, craft and a Winnie the Witch story. Of course, there will be plates piled high with scrummy food and we promise, no sand in the sandwiches!

Our Level 4 exhibition is now free for all visitors and there is no need to book in advance. We're limiting the numbers in the exhibition at any one time so we can keep everyone safe and so there may be a slight wait if we're busy. The exhibition includes entry to the Winnie the Witch activity room where young guests can draw on our giant chalkboard, mix a spell in the cauldron and enjoy the classic tales by Valerie Thomas and Korky Paul.

If all that’s got your tummies rumbling, drop in to the cafe for babychinos (cup of frothy warm milk), muffins, cake (including vegan options), picnic box style meals, paninis and an assortment of coffees and soft drinks. We have high chairs available and changing facilities in the toilets on Level 2.

A trip to Ouseburn with little ones wouldn’t be complete without a trip to our neighbours at Ouseburn Farm where you can feed and pet the guinea-pigs, walk the goats and even bathe the reptiles!
