This Summer, Seven Stories is teaming up with a number of venues in the Ouseburn Valley to host a summer of fun and creativity for children and their families. Visitors can engage in life drawing, exploring, outdoor performance and storytelling at not only Seven Stories, but other venues in the Ouseburn Valley, including Ouseburn Farm.

Visiting companies and artists include children’s illustrator Morag Hood, Manic Chord Theatre, and performers Brooke Conway and Hannah Mathieson.

Our first activity of the summer is Farm Life Drawing at Ouseburn Farm. Taking place on Wednesday 24th July, Wednesday 31st July and Wednesday 7th August, children aged 4+ are invited to come along to Ouseburn Farm and have a go at drawing some of their animals. They will also be given the chance to see some real life farmyard illustrations direct from the Seven Stories archive, the perfect inspiration for their own masterpiece.

The very next day, we host the first of our We’re Going on a Bear Hunt tours To celebrate 30 years of the much-loved story by Michael Rosen, children and their families can join us on a multi-sensory adventure in search for bears. After the adventure, visitors can join us in our bookshop for a reading of the classic story.

On Saturday 27th July, we will be joined by adventure tellers Brooke Conway and Hannah Mathieson for The Enchanted Forest Adventure. The duo will perform and delight children in an interactive action-packed adventure through an enchanted forest where a miserable witch has been up to mischief. Can we save Bottom and his fairy tale friends from the witch's spells before Big Ben chimes midnight or will we be trapped in the enchanted forest forever?

Watch out for our team of Story Catchers who will be out and about in the Ouseburn over the summer on sunny days, delivering pop-up activity!  That's right, our team of Story Catchers are ready and waiting to head out of Seven Stories HQ and into Ouseburn Valley throughout the summer holidays to bring you plenty of storytelling fun!
