This weekend we launched our Christmas Programme with visitors enjoying our Maisy’s Christmas Tree Storyparty, Elves Wanted! A Magical Theatre Performance with Father Christmas AND the start of our seasonal artist installation with Paul Merrick.

Our Marketing Manager brought her two little helpers in to see what was going on and have a taste of the Christmas Magic…

We started in the Studio where local artist Paul Merrick had created a mountain range backdrop for us to add our own Christmas trees too. My girls enjoyed cutting, sticking and building their 3D trees only to want to hang them from our tree at home, not the hilly backdrop! The range of activities also included sculpting wired toys to hang from the ceiling or making tissue sculptures – we noticed one dad making a rather impressive Arlo from The Good Dinosaur.

The drop-in activities will be available right through the Christmas season at Seven Stories, and there was something for all ages to engage with. The great thing about Paul’s activities was the length of time you could spend constructing your masterpiece, you could go as big and technical or small and simple as you liked. And for us, we’ve got another handmade bauble to add to the tree. Next, we visited the Gillian Dickinson Learning Space for an interactive Maisy session. Unfortunately all of the Maisy session are now fully booked, and you can see why. They are perfect for little ones, with stories, songs and lots of Christmas spirit. They were interactive and also included a special visit from Father Christmas. We certainly came out feeling all warm and festive.

And finally, our Elf extravaganza! What an incredible show this is, full of fun, laughter and plenty audience participation to keep the kids entertained. Working with Arthur, the Elf who always gets it wrong, to help save Christmas as all of the Elves have come down with a seriously bad case of chicken pox. Impossible to think that humans can be elves but it’s Christmas and anything can happen! A lovely Christmas show for all the family, with a special visit from the main man himself, Father Christmas. Tickets are still available for this show, and I would highly recommend it.

And that is a Christmas wrap! All in all my girls had a lovely festive day and we had plenty keepsakes to take home as a reminder of the day.

Elves Wanted! A Magical Theatre Performance with Father Christmas is available Sat 12 and Sun 13, and Sat 19 – Wed 23 Dec. Tickets are priced £8 per child and includes a copy of How Santa Really Works and an official graduation certificate from Santa school. You can book via www.sevenstories.org.uk/whats-on
