Up to Mischief with Horrid Henry

Seven Stories, the Centre for Children’s Books are proud to present Up to Mischief with Horrid Henry. With Horrid Henry and Perfect Peter as your guides visitors will come face to face with some of the best-loved naughty characters in this brand new exhibition.

Stories about naughty characters have been told for centuries and this exhibition explores why they have so much appeal. Horrid Henry is a real modern day rogue but the exhibition also explores old favourites such as Dennis the Menace, Pippi Longstocking, My Naughty Little Sister and Just William.

Visitors can expect to discover beautiful artwork by major illustrators including Beatrix Potter, Lauren Child and Shirley Hughes, highlighting popular characters including Peter Rabbit and Clarice Bean.

The exhibitions provided by Seven Stories invite visitors to step into the pages of a book and interact with stories in new and exciting ways. Up to Mischief is no exception, with school reports, glop recipes and forbidden trifle. Visitors can expect adventure, excitement and a chance to break all the rules!

Watch out though as those who are very naughty will be sent to the bad children's room. Tee hee.

Horrid Henry books and audio have sold nearly 10 million copies in UK alone and CITV have made a hugely popular cartoon series based on the nation's favourite naughty boy.

Best selling author of Horrid Henry, Francesca Simon says: “I got the idea for Horrid Henry when a friend asked me to write a book about a horrid child. Horrid Henry was born on the spot. I immediately saw a truculent little boy, the despair of his well-meaning liberal parents. I was also interested in exploring sibling rivalry and families where the parents decide that one child is ‘good’ and the other ‘bad’, which is how Perfect Peter came about. Soon Henry took on a vigorous life of his own, aided by the bossy madam next door Moody Margaret.”

Up to Mischief with Horrid Henry opens to the public on Saturday 9 February from 10am. Expect mischief, surprises and lots of fun for the whole family over the weekend, plus there will be regular appearances from the infamous character Horrid Henry in the Seven Stories Bookshop.
