Enter the Robert Westall Gallery which plays host to the exhibition and be transported into imaginative settings on your incredible journey.

Robert Westall 1929-1993

An award-winning author for children and young adults, Robert Westall explored themes such as war, cats, the supernatural and love in his books. Many of his forty-eight publications use Tyneside locations and when asked why he wrote, he replied 'To make people think for themselves'.

In the Book Den chill out, relax with a book and check out our visitors works of art.

Level 4

The Sebastian Walker Gallery also hosts the exhibition where you will encounter your favourite characters and places.

Sebastian Walker 1942 - 1991

By his inspirational vision and irresistible charm, Sebastian Walker changed the world of children's books. He founded the deeply influential and successful publishing company Walker Books, and believed in making only the best children's books and selling them in the greatest numbers all around the world. The flame he lit burns and dances still.

Our Welcome Gallery sets the scene for your visit to Seven Stories; here you will learn what we are all about and glimpse into the world of Children's Literature which is celebrated throughout the building.

Inside the Seven Stories Bookshop browse around our selection of the very best books for children of all ages with our knowledgeable staff on hand to advise and assist you.

Relax in the Cool Cat Café and choose a mouth watering snack from our great value menu of food inspired by children's books.

Down in the Engine Room let your imagination run riot with hands on activities in this dynamic environment.
