In 2008, Judith Kerr deposited an extensive collection of artwork with Seven Stories Collection. The collection includes finished artwork for 24 of her published titles for children, including illustrations for The Tiger Who Came to Tea, illustrations for all of the books in the Mog series, and her illustrations for When Hitler Stole Pink Rabbit. The collection also contains compositions, illustrated letters and drawings created by Kerr during her childhood in Berlin, Paris and London; life drawings and textile designs created by Kerr during her time at Art College; unpublished artwork for two picture books; and a small quantity of sketches and preparatory material relating to her published titles.
The Tiger Who Came to Tea; A Judith Kerr Retrospective will be the second exhibition produced by Seven Stories to highlight the rich body of work within the Seven Stories Collection. The last exhibition of this nature, Westall’s Kingdom, A Writer’s Life enthralled audiences back in October 2006.
