Seven Stories World Book Week Workshops
"Stories Like Yours"
Available Mon 4th, Tues 5th, Thurs 7th and Fri 8th March. In these workshops, our team of Story Catchers will help your class explore what makes stories so special! We’ll explore the books we love, we’ll understand how we can see ourselves in stories and we’ll discover how everyone has a story to tell… Delve into our magical archive of children’s literature to recognise how authors develop ideas for their stories, where illustrators get their inspiration from and how to tell our own stories.
Stories Like Yours: EYFS - KS1 Workshops
Did you know there are only seven types of story in the whole world? Join us as we delve into the magical world of books and discover how one story can open the door to a world of possibilities. In this workshop, we'll explore the seven plots through movement and performance, learning how stories are made using a range of props, costumes and music. We'll also take a look at some original artwork from the Seven Stories Collection to inspire the next generation of storytellers.
Stories Like Yours: KS2 Workshops
Your workshop will begin with an introduction to the theory that there are only seven plots in the whole world! That's right - just seven! We'll then look through a varied selection of work from our nationally recognised Collection. Here, you'll find artwork, manuscripts and dummy books, to discover how stories are created and brought to life. We'll also learn how to approach the layout of a book, including the design, style of art, text and how it can take a team of people to create a finished product. We'll explore plots, characters, layout and art using a range of materials to design storyboards that will help us to create the beginnings of our own book that can be continued back in the classroom!

Joseph Coelho’s ‘Bookmaker Like You’ Event
Bookmaker Like You with Joesph Coelho and Seven Stories
This an exciting opportunity for schools to join Waterstones Children’s Laureate, author and poet, Joseph Coelho at Seven Stories for a very special ‘Bookmaker Like You’ event for KS2 and KS3 classes to show that anyone can be part of making books.
This event will focus on the creative journey into bookmaking: highlighting a creators successes and their mistakes to break down assumptions of what it takes to become a storyteller!
The ‘Bookmaker Like You’ project from the current Children’s Laureate aims to showcase the new and exciting talent we have in the UK, introducing children to as wide a selection of bookmakers as possible while diversifying bookshelves so that every single child can imagine themselves as a storyteller with a voice to be heard.
