Ages 7-11 - Key Stage Two

Using the best quality picture and chapter books as a stimulus, we use story as the starting point for creative experiences.

Visits to Seven Stories

At the heart of all our visits are the creative interests of the child and their own story making. All visits harness the inspiration of books, illustration and our exhibitions to extend and develop dialogue, creative and critical thinking - not to mention fun and inspiration!

Stories, Imagination and Me - Inspired by the original manuscripts and illustrations in our unique exhibitions. Choose from an illustration and drama workshop looking at the Anthony Browne gallery and his book Changes, an illustration and drama workshop looking at the Jacqueline Wilson gallery, in particular her book The Story of Tracy Beaker, or a creative writing and drama workshop looking at Hetty Feather and discussing Victorian life. Sessions are 2 hours, with an hour workshop and an hour facilitated gallery session.

Family Learning - During our family and learning offer, parents/carers and their children have fun engaging in story sharing activities inspired by the books featured in our exhibitions. This session is inclusive and focuses on pictures to tell stories.

Seven Stories at your place

Reading for Pleasure - Enthuse and motivate your class to delve into the world of children's books with exposure to an enticing collection of books especially chosen for their key stage. A shared process of discussion, drama, creative and critical thinking take your group on a journey to find books they will love and shared stories they will remember.

Wonderwords Poetry Roadshow - Wonderwords is an interactive performance and creative writing workshop which brings poetry and wordplay to life for children aged 7 to 12 years. The session offers children an active route into listening to poetry, engaging physically and emotionally with ideas, and writing their own imaginative responses. Children are invited on a journey through different poetry worlds where they meet new words and poems, and take part in creative activities and drama games. Along the way they build a collection of lines of poetry  which result in a final poem to take away. Teachers receive a resource pack with follow-on ideas, further reading suggestions and an anthology of children’s poems to further inspire their class to write.
